Talking Trees

Did you know that certain types of trees “talk” to each other?

That’s right, since the late 1970’s research has shown that willows and poplars have been know to talk with each other.    Research has shown that those types of trees that are infested with insects will produce an excess of chemicals into their leaves.   These chemicals not only reduce the nutritional values of the leaves for the insects, but also warn neighboring trees.   Studies show that once the warning has been issued, the nearby trees will begin to produce the same chemicals, defending themselves from a similar attack.

STRANGE, BUT TRUE!!!
